Amazon, East Midlands Gateway

The Amazon building is the largest on the SEGRO Logistics Park East Midlands Gateway, at over 1.4m sqft. However, the footprint is only just over 500 thousand sqft, with two mezzanines inserted within a clear internal height of 15.1m. There are four vehicular access points leading to an on-site bus stop, 900 parking spaces and 60 loading docks.

The design process coped with Amazon’s evolving operational procedures in which the use of Level 2 BIM proved invaluable.

The building has Amazon yellow features set against a horizontal grey banding to the main warehouse, which grades from dark to light, allowing the mass to blend into the sky.​
