Dalehead Amenity

A new, modern-design staff canteen and amenity building to establish a benchmark of quality for the Tulip / Danish Crown group.

This building replaces an existing dilapidated facility within the existing meat processing plant and provides the Butchery staff with a fresh, spacious and tranquil atmosphere to enjoy their breaks in the new canteen.

The building contains state-of–the-art changing rooms and hygiene room facilities prior to entering the food production areas, as part of multi-million pound site wide improvements to suit the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) requirements.

The building will be the first building for the Client to achieve a BREEAM ‘Good’ rating and utilises air-source heat pumps, solar performance glazing, waterless urinals, rainwater harvesting, very high levels of insulation and air-tightness.

The design draws on the simple and elegant lines of Danish style architecture, with the slim roof plane visually flying out into the landscape.  The use of classic interior furniture with strong colour provides a counter-point to the backdrop of more understated materials of oak, glass and stainless steel.
